Executive Management Prof. Gabriel Crean, CEO: Gabriel Crean is a co-founder and CEO of the company. He has previously founded two companies, Firecomms Limited (Photonic light source company) and Optical Metrology Innovations Limited (Photonics based semiconductor equipment company). He is an internationally respected technology leader. He was CEO of the NMRC, Ireland’s largest research institute in micro- and nano-technologies from 1999 until 2005 with a staff of 270 researchers. He holds a part-time Professorship in the Department of Microelectronics in University College Cork. Dr Jim Walsh, COO (part-time): Jim Walsh has 20 years general management experience in the Healthcare industry with particular experience in Diagnostics. He is an executive Director and Chief Operating Officer with Trinity Biotech Plc, (NASDAQ: TRIB) an Irish headquartered Diagnostics company. Previously Jim was Managing Director of Cambridge Diagnostics Ltd. a wholly owned subsidiary of Inverness Medical Innovations Inc (AMEX: IMA) Before joining CDL he worked with Fleming GmbH as R&D Manager. Jim is a graduate of the National University of Ireland and holds a Doctorate in Inorganic Chemistry and Post Doctorate qualifications in Immunochemistry. Dr. Ian Muirhead, VP Business Development: Ian Muirhead joined Biosensia Ltd in March 2004 as VP Business Development. Prior to that he held director, senior management and business development posts in a range of companies including CEO of Terahertz Photonics Ltd, a Venture Capital backed university spin-out and Business Development roles in the multinational ST Microelectronics and VISION Ltd (a company which went from university spin-out to IPO) . His experience includes VC fundraising, start-up management, development of a global customer base and technology transfers within a rapid prototype to volume production environment. Ian has a BSc and PhD from Heriot Watt University and an MBA from Edinburgh University. Dr. Gareth Redmond, Chief Scientist: Gareth Redmond is a co-founder and Chief Scientist of Biosensia. He has held research appointments in a number of European Universities including the Ecole Polytechnique in Lausanne, Switzerland, University of Bath, U.K., University College Dublin, Ireland and is currently Director of the Nanotechnology Group at the Tyndall (NMRC) National Institute in University College Cork, Ireland. |
